Hundreds Turn Out for the Dog Envy Charity Dog Show

What a day.

The Dog Envy Charity Dog Show took over The Dairy Barn at North Bitchburn, bringing together more than 100 dogs and hundreds of people for a packed day of dogs, fun and fundraising.

The event was completely free to attend, with visitors coming along to enjoy the atmosphere, browse the stalls and, of course, take part in the main event — our Fun Dog Show.

And "fun" might be underselling it slightly.

Some of the classes attracted almost 40 entries, with dogs of every shape, size and level of obedience competing for glory. From beautiful puppies and handsome dogs to waggy tails, rescue dogs and the ever-popular Daxie Dash, there was plenty going on throughout the afternoon.

Raising Money for Three Great Causes

More importantly, the day had a serious purpose behind all the chaos.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone who attended, entered the show, donated and supported the event, we raised an incredible £600 for charity.

This year's fundraising supported three organisations doing fantastic work for animals:

• Durham Dogs & Cats Home
• German Shepherd Dog Rescue
• RSPCA Chester-le-Street

For a free local event, we couldn't have asked for a better response.

A Proper Community Dog Show

One of the best things about the day was seeing just how many people turned up.

We wanted to create an event that wasn't too serious — somewhere people could bring the family, bring the dog and simply have a good day out. Seeing hundreds of people around The Dairy Barn and classes approaching 40 dogs certainly showed us that people were up for it.

There were plenty of laughs, some very proud owners, a fair bit of competitive spirit and more than a few dogs who had absolutely no interest in following the script.

Which, frankly, is exactly how a dog show should be.

A huge thank you goes to everyone who helped, volunteered, sponsored a class, donated prizes, entered their dog or simply came along and supported the day.

And after the response to this year's event, we think it's safe to say:
